                               HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 1606

                               A RESOLUTION to honor McCabe Park Little League on the
                                            celebration of its fortieth anniversary.
       WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in paying tribute
to those worthy community organizations that are vital to the growth and development of
Tennessee's most precious resource, our children; and
       WHEREAS, since 1986, McCabe Park Little League has welcomed players of all ages
and skill levels to join in the fun of learning and playing the game of baseball together in their
community; and
       WHEREAS, for forty years, McCabe Park Little League has served the West Nashville
community, which is home to some 400 young men and women who play baseball each spring
at McCabe Park Community Center; and
       WHEREAS, McCabe Park Little League is an all-volunteer organization, relying solely on
a devoted legion of adult volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and
runs smoothly; and
       WHEREAS, the league's volunteer managers and coaches give generously of their time
and energy to teach and develop these baseball stars of tomorrow; and
       WHEREAS, parents and other volunteers are essential to the successful operation of
McCabe Park Little League games, events, and activities; and
       WHEREAS, McCabe Park Little League players also learn about the importance of
sportsmanship, camaraderie, and fair play from their coaches and other adult volunteers as they
acquire the knowledge and skills to play America's pastime; and

       WHEREAS, McCabe Park Little League has been a bastion of the West Nashville
community for forty years, providing a platform for young men and women to participate in
athletics; now, therefore,
       BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING, that we honor the coaches, volunteers, board members, and players of
McCabe Park Little League on the celebration of the organization's fortieth anniversary, thank
them for making baseball an enjoyable activity for today's youth, and extend to them our best
wishes for much continued success.
       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
without House or Senate designation.
