No. R-326. House concurrent resolution congratulating the 2026 Mt. Mansfield Union
High School Cougars State co-champions girls’ snowboarding team.

  Offered by Representatives Graning of Jericho, Brown of Richmond, Squirrell of
Underhill, Stevens of Waterbury, and Wood of Waterbury
   Offered by Senators Chittenden, Lyons, and Ram Hinsdale
   Whereas, the annual State high school snowboarding championship is conducted
under the aegis of the Snowboarding Council, consisting of coaches from the
participating schools, and
   Whereas, this year’s decisive high school snowboarding conclave was held on March
4, 2026, at Jay Peak, and
    Whereas, the competing snowboarding teams raced in three events: slopestyle, rail
jam, and giant slalom; and upon the completion of their skiing on the slopes, the judges
tallied the scores, recording a tie between the Cougars of Mt. Mansfield Union High
School (MMU) and the Wasps of Woodstock Union High School, resulting in the two
teams sharing unusual co-championship honors, and
   Whereas, MMU also brought home the individual title, and
   Whereas, the first-ever Cougars girls’ championship snowboarders, all members of the
Cougars first-year ski and ride club, which Snowboarding Coach Derek Howard and
MMU Athletic Director Mike Abbott established, were Marlee Anderson, Riley Ayers,
Sarah Diglio, Cassidy Thompson, and Sydney Howard, and
   Whereas, coaches Derek Howard and Chris Kasper were thrilled with the MMU girls’
snowboarders’ success on the slopes, now therefore be it
   Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
  That the General Assembly congratulates the 2026 Mt. Mansfield Union High School
Cougars State co-champions girls’ snowboarding team, and be it further
 Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
MMU.
