  A RESOLUTION
  Honoring Flat Rock Homes on its One Hundred Sixtieth  1
  Anniversary.  2
     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly    3
of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Flat Rock Homes on the auspicious    4
occasion of its One Hundred Sixtieth Anniversary; and  5
     WHEREAS, Recognition of this prestigious milestone is, indeed, a    6
fitting tribute to Flat Rock Homes, for since its inception, it has      7
attained a remarkable record of service. Founded in Tiffin to care for   8
young people orphaned by the Civil War, the former Ebenezer Orphan       9
Institute opened its first home with twelve children in 1866,  10
establishing a campus near Flat Rock two years later, but as the  11
number of war orphans dwindled, it transitioned to developmental  12
disability care by 1978. Today, this fine organization provides faith-   13
based services for individuals with developmental disabilities and       14
their families throughout Erie, Huron, Lorain, Seneca, and Sandusky      15
counties, helping each person live with dignity, connection, and joy,    16
and its accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and an  17
outstanding reflection not only on the agency itself but also on its     18
hard-working staff and volunteers and on the community; and  19
     WHEREAS, Over the past sixteen decades, Flat Rock Homes has  20
enhanced the quality of life within the surrounding area, and its        21
generous contributions have earned it the gratitude and respect of       22
many. We are certain that as it maintains its unfaltering dedication     23
to service and achievement, it will continue in the tradition of  24
excellence that has long been its hallmark; and  25
     WHEREAS, We are proud to note that it is through the unceasing      26
efforts of organizations such as Flat Rock Homes that Ohio has gained    27
a reputation as a state that is responsive to the needs of its  28

citizens and has remained a pleasant place in which to live and work.      29
It is truly deserving of high praise; therefore be it  30
     RESOLVED, That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General     31
Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Flat Rock Homes     32
on its One Hundred Sixtieth Anniversary and extend best wishes for  33
ongoing success; and be it further  34
     RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly  35
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Flat Rock Homes.  36
