HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 226
BY REPRESENTATIVE WALTERS
  A RESOLUTION
To commend Treone Williams-Larvadain on her retirement after thirty years of serving this
       state and its citizens as a member of the Louisiana State Police and the Assumption
       Parish Sheriff's Office.
       WHEREAS, Treone Williams-Larvadain retired from the Louisiana State Police after
serving for thirty years in law enforcement under six different governors; and
       WHEREAS, her first history-making moment was announced by Governor John Bel
Edwards on January 21st, as she commanded the Protective Services Unit; and
       WHEREAS, over the course of her career, she held a wide range of executive,
administrative, operational, training, and investigative roles with the Louisiana State Police,
highlighting her versatility and expertise; and
       WHEREAS, Treone Williams-Larvadain's career with the Louisiana State Police
began in Troop C in March 2006 and continued with Protective Services in 2008; and
       WHEREAS, she worked in Protective Services from 2008 to 2011; and
       WHEREAS, she was promoted to sergeant in the Bureau of Investigations in 2012
and also served as an adjunct instructor at the training academy, later becoming a P.O.S.T.
Master Instructor; and
       WHEREAS, she was promoted to lieutenant in Internal Affairs in 2018; and
       WHEREAS, also in 2018, she made history with her daughter, Tiah, as the first-ever
mother and daughter to actively serve in the Louisiana State Police at the same time; and
       WHEREAS, in 2020, Governor John Bel Edwards posted, "I am happy to announce
Captain Treone Larvadain has been promoted to lead the Protective Services division,
becoming the first African-American female captain in State Police history"; and

       WHEREAS, the Protective Services Unit is a unique section that allocates personnel
based on the needs of the current governor; and
       WHEREAS, as a part of the Protective Services Unit, her primary responsibility was
to ensure the safety and security of the governor and his immediate family; and
       WHEREAS, in 2022, Treone Williams-Larvadain later earned the rank of Major,
overseeing the Criminal Investigations Division statewide and ultimately was appointed
deputy superintendent over the Bureau of Investigations by former Colonel Lamar Davis,
which was somewhat of a full circle moment as she once served as a sergeant in the bureau;
and
       WHEREAS, she led all plainclothes State Police operations, assuming responsibility
for the Criminal Investigations Division, the Gaming Enforcement Division, the Force
Investigations Unit, and the Special Investigations Division; and
       WHEREAS, on March 15, 2024, Treone Williams-Larvadain graduated from the FBI
National Academy (Session #289), a ten-week leadership course; and
       WHEREAS, as a woman, Treone Williams-Larvadain has proven that there is no
position a female cannot obtain; and
       WHEREAS, Treone Williams-Larvadain has stated, "I always wanted to give back
and help people and my goal has always been to impact lives and change behaviors"; and
       WHEREAS, as the first African-American female captain, she also stated that she
hopes to inspire other women and young girls; and
       WHEREAS, she has the following message for women and young girls: "You can
attain any goal that you want to accomplish, no matter what the naysayers may say; you can
do what you want to do"; and
       WHEREAS, throughout Treone Williams-Larvadain's career and life, she has been
consistently led by the Lord; and
       WHEREAS, Treone Williams-Larvadain proudly worships at First Israel Baptist
Church where she is also a member of the inspirational choir, giving glory to God through
song; and
       WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a sincere and heartfelt measure of appreciation be
expressed to Treone Williams-Larvadain for her remarkable term of professional service,
including using her talents and resources to lead by example, with ethics and integrity; and

  WHEREAS, Treone Williams-Larvadain served the Louisiana State Police, her
community, her parish, and her state with pride and honor and it is her unwavering
dedication to excellence that allowed her to climb the ranks and achieve many firsts that not
only broke barriers but wrote the blueprint for what others can achieve through hard work.
  THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Treone Williams-Larvadain on her
retirement from the Louisiana State Police and for exemplifying service-oriented leadership
throughout her career.
  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
of Louisiana does hereby express its gratitude and sincere appreciation to Treone Williams-
Larvadain for her dedicated service to the people of Louisiana for a thirty-year law
enforcement career with the Louisiana State Police and the Assumption Parish Sheriff's
Office.
  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature
of Louisiana wishes Treone Williams-Larvadain well in all of her future endeavors.
  BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Treone Williams-Larvadain.
