hr1057/enrolled.txtResolutionENROLLED HOUSERESOLUTION NO. 1057 By: Roe and StarkA Resolution recognizing May 6 through May 12 asNational Nurses Week; celebrating the impact ofnurses in Oklahoma.WHEREAS, beginning in 1991, National Nurses Week is celebratedannually from May 6, also known as "National Recognition Day forNurses", through May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, thefounder of modern nursing; andWHEREAS, National Nurses Week is a time of year to reflect onthe important contributions that nurses make to provide safe, high-quality health care; andWHEREAS, nurses serve on the front lines, risking their livestreating the injured and sick during wartime, natural disasters, andpublic health emergencies, including the COVID–19 pandemic; andWHEREAS, nurses are known to be patient advocates, acting toprotect the lives of individuals under their care; andWHEREAS, nurses represent the largest single component of thehealth care profession, with an estimated population of more thanfour million registered nurses in the United States; andWHEREAS, when nurse staffing levels increase, the risk ofpatient complications and lengthy hospital stays decrease, resultingin cost savings; andWHEREAS, nurses are the cornerstone of the public healthinfrastructure, promoting healthy lifestyles and educatingcommunities on disease prevention and health promotion; andWHEREAS, nurses touch the lives of the people of the UnitedStates through every stage of life.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESOF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives supports the goalsand ideals of National Nurses Week, recognizes the significantcontributions of nurses to the health care system in Oklahoma, andencourages the citizens of Oklahoma to observe National Nurses Weekand understand the importance of nurses in the lives of patients.Adopted by the House of Representatives the 6th day of May,2026.Presiding Officer of the House ofRepresentativesOFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATEReceived by the Office of the Secretary of State this __________day of __________________, 20 _______, at _______ o'clock _______ M.By: _________________________________ENR.
