Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTo congratulate the Lancaster Police Department forbeing awarded Law Enforcement Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditationfor Law Enforcement Agencies Inc.Whereas, the SouthCarolina House of Representatives is pleased to learn that the Lancaster PoliceDepartment has been awarded Law Enforcement Accreditation by the Commission onAccreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. (CALEA) effective March 14,2026; andWhereas, the process ofCALEA Accreditation begins with a rigorous self-assessment, requiring a reviewof policies, practices, and processes against internationally accepted publicsafety standards, followed by an independent review by assessors withsignificant public safety experience; andWhereas, followingthese assessments, public feedback is gathered to promote community trust andengagement. Structured interviews are conducted with select agency personneland others with knowledge to assess the agency's effectiveness and overallservice delivery capacities; andWhereas, the decisionto accredit is rendered by a governing body of commissioners following a publichearing and review of all reporting documentation; andWhereas, CALEAAccreditation is a continuous process and serves as the foundation for asuccessful, well-managed, transparent, community-focused law enforcementagency. To this end, an agency must maintain its accredited status by remainingin compliance with CALEA standards at all times; andWhereas, since it wasestablished, the Lancaster Police Department has consistently met the highstandard of excellence for accreditation; andWhereas, the members ofthe South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the LancasterPolice Department's dedicated service to the people and the State of SouthCarolina and take great pleasure in saluting the department for receiving CALEAAccreditation. Now, therefore,Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:That the members of theSouth Carolina House of Representatives,by this resolution, congratulate the Lancaster Police Department for beingawarded Law Enforcement Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation forLaw Enforcement Agencies Inc.Be it further resolvedthat a copy of this resolution be presented to the Lancaster Police Department.----XX----This web page was last updated on May 13, 2026 at 10:56 AM
