scr71/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 71BY SENATOR SEABAUGHA CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONTo commend and congratulate Kathy Holloway upon receiving the 2026 Dave DixonLouisiana Sports Leadership Award and on being inducted into the 2026 class of theLouisiana Sports Hall of Fame.WHEREAS, each year the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana,each year collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limitednumber of sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talent worthy of being namedto the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame; andWHEREAS, the Dave Dixon Louisiana Sports Leadership Award is a prestigioushonor presented annually by the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame to an individual who hasplayed a decisive role as a sports leader or administrator benefitting Louisiana and hasbrought credit to Louisiana on the national and international stage; andWHEREAS, Kathy Holloway has been selected for the 2026 Dave Dixon LouisianaSports Leadership Award from the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and inducted into the 2026Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class; andWHEREAS, Kathy Holloway is the fourth woman recipient of the Dave DixonLouisiana Sports Leadership Award; andWHEREAS, Kathy Stewart Holloway, a native of Alexandria, Louisiana, hasdedicated her life to advancing education-based athletics and mentoring generations ofstudent-athletes; andWHEREAS, Kathy Holloway has achieved historic distinction as the first femalePage 1 of 3SCR NO. 71 ENROLLEDpresident of both the Louisiana High School Coaches Association and the National HighSchool Athletic Coaches Association; andWHEREAS, her excellence and influence has been recognized through her inductioninto the Louisiana High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and the National High SchoolAthletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2012; andWHEREAS, in 2021, the National High School Athletic Coaches Associationestablished the "Kathy Holloway Women of Inspiration Award" to be presented annually toa female that "has promoted female athletics by either coaching, serving, supporting orleading high school female athletic programs that focus on changing lives and inspiringwomen to strive for greatness", with the first recipient of the award being Kathy Holloway;andWHEREAS, Kathy Holloway was a standout basketball player for Poland HighSchool in rural Rapides Parish, leading the school's girls' basketball team to the LouisianaClass C girls' basketball state championship in 1965; andWHEREAS, a few years later, she coached the Tioga High School girls' basketballteam to ten playoff appearances, two Sweet 16 berths, and two state runner-up finishes; andWHEREAS, Kathy Holloway stepped away from the Tioga program after 23 years,but later returned to the bench as an assistant coach at Bolton High School helping lead theBolton Bruins girls' basketball team to the 2003 state semifinals; andWHEREAS, officially retired from coaching, Kathy Holloway continues to serve theathletic community through her work on the Louisiana High School Athletic AssociationHall of Fame selection committee and as director of the Upward Basketball program at theFirst Baptist Church in Pineville, Louisiana; andWHEREAS, Kathy Holloway's enduring legacy is defined not only by wins andaccolades but by her unwavering commitment to shaping lives, promoting opportunity, andinspiring generations of young women through athletics.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does herebycommend and congratulate Kathy Holloway upon receiving the 2026 Dave Dixon LouisianaSports Leadership Award and on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana SportsHall of Fame.Page 2 of 3SCR NO. 71 ENROLLEDBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted toKathy Holloway.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATESPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 3 of 3
