scr72/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 72BY SENATOR SEABAUGHA CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONTo commend Todd McClure on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana SportsHall of Fame.WHEREAS, each year the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana,collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number ofsports figures who embody the character, skill, talent, and accomplishment worthy of beingnamed to the Hall of Fame; andWHEREAS, the 2026 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes ToddMcClure; andWHEREAS, Todd McClure, a native of Baton Rouge, distinguished himself as anexceptional athlete, leader, and competitor whose accomplishments on the football fieldbrought pride to his hometown and the state of Louisiana; andWHEREAS, McClure first rose to prominence as a standout three-sport athlete atCentral High School, where he earned All-State honors in football, baseball and contributedto a basketball team that reached the state finals; andWHEREAS, he continued his athletic career at Louisiana State University, where heplayed four seasons for the LSU Tigers football team and started 37 games at center,establishing himself as one of the premier offensive linemen in the Southeastern Conference;andWHEREAS, McClure earned All-SEC honors in 1997 and 1998 and concluded hiscollegiate career by being named a first-team All-American by the American FootballCoaches Association, recognizing his exceptional skill and leadership on the field; andWHEREAS, McClure was selected in the seventh round of the 1999 NFL Draft bythe Atlanta Falcons, demonstrating perseverance and determination in overcoming adversityafter suffering a torn ACL during training camp in his rookie season; andWHEREAS, after recovering from injury, McClure became the Falcons' startingcenter midway through the 2000 season and went on to establish a remarkable record ofconsistency and durability, appearing in 198 regular season games with 195 starts during hisPage 1 of 2SCR NO. 72 ENROLLEDfourteen-year career; andWHEREAS, widely respected for his discipline and reliability, McClure waspenalized only 22 times over the course of those 198 games, averaging fewer than twopenalties per season and demonstrating the highest standards of professionalism andperformance; andWHEREAS, nicknamed "Mud Duck", McClure also played in nine postseasoncontests, bringing his career total to 207 games; andWHEREAS, in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the franchise,Falcons owner Arthur Blank honored McClure with induction into the Atlanta Falcons Ringof Honor on October 30, 2022; andWHEREAS, through his dedication, perseverance, and excellence, Todd McClurehas left an enduring legacy in collegiate and professional football while serving as a sourceof pride for the citizens of Louisiana.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does herebycommend Todd McClure on being inducted into the 2026 class of the Louisiana Sports Hallof Fame.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to ToddMcClure.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATESPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 2 of 2
