HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 304

  A RESOLUTION
To commend the Louisiana Oil Marketers Association on the occasion of its seventy-fifth
       anniversary and to designate Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as Louisiana Oil Marketers
       Association Day in Louisiana.
       WHEREAS, the Louisiana Oil Marketers Association (LOMA) represents more than
two hundred fifty member companies that own, operate, or supply over three thousand
convenience stores, service stations, car washes, truck stops, and related motor fuel retail
outlets throughout Louisiana; and
       WHEREAS, LOMA members annually supply nearly three billion gallons of motor
fuel to serve Louisiana motorists and a wide range of commercial users, including farmers,
construction firms, and state and local governmental entities; and
       WHEREAS, petroleum marketers play an essential role in the energy and
transportation infrastructure of Louisiana by ensuring the reliable distribution and resale of
refined petroleum products across wholesale and retail markets; and
       WHEREAS, LOMA was founded seventy-five years ago by a group of jobbers
meeting at the Jung Hotel in Shreveport, Louisiana, who sought to establish an organization
to support and advance the petroleum marketing industry through shared services, advocacy,
and professional collaboration; and
       WHEREAS, over the decades, LOMA has evolved into a statewide trade association
headquartered in Baton Rouge that provides political representation, educational
programming, industry publications, scholarships, and annual conventions and trade shows
that strengthen Louisiana's convenience store and petroleum marketing industries; and

        WHEREAS, LOMA continues to address the evolving needs of its members,
including fair competition, regulatory compliance, underground storage tank issues, fuel
theft prevention, and other matters critical to the industry; and
        WHEREAS, LOMA members contribute significantly to the economy of Louisiana
by investing in local communities, creating jobs, and providing essential goods and services
in both urban and rural areas of the state; and
        WHEREAS, the seventy-fifth anniversary of LOMA represents a milestone of
enduring service and economic contribution, and the Louisiana Oil Marketers Association
is deserving of recognition for its legacy of service to the citizens of the state.
        THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Louisiana Oil Marketers Association on
the occasion of its seventy-fifth anniversary and does hereby designate Wednesday, May 20,
2026, as Louisiana Oil Marketers Association Day in Louisiana.
