HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 308
BY REPRESENTATIVE MILLER
  A RESOLUTION
To commend His Holiness Pope Leo XIV for his faithful leadership of the Catholic Church.
       WHEREAS, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has accepted the sacred responsibility of
leading the Catholic Church with wisdom, humility, courage, and unwavering devotion to
God and humanity; and
       WHEREAS, the Holy Father's commitment to peace, mercy, justice, compassion, and
the dignity of every human person serves as a guiding light to nations and peoples across the
globe; and
       WHEREAS, the state of Louisiana possesses a rich and enduring Catholic heritage
deeply rooted in the faith traditions brought by French and Spanish settlers, and these
traditions continue to shape the spiritual, cultural, and historic identity of our communities;
and
       WHEREAS, from the historic parishes of South Louisiana to the sacred bells of
St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, the Catholic faith has long inspired the people of
Louisiana toward charity, perseverance, service, hospitality, and devotion to God; and
       WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana recognize and honor the Holy Father's
dedication to the poor, the vulnerable, the suffering, and those seeking hope, reconciliation,
and spiritual renewal in times of uncertainty; and
       WHEREAS, Louisianians stand united in prayer and goodwill with Catholics and
people of faith around the world in celebration of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV and in
support of his sacred ministry; and
       WHEREAS, it is fitting to offer an expression of friendship, respect, admiration, and
spiritual solidarity between the people of Louisiana and the Holy See.

       THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend His Holiness Pope Leo XIV for his faithful
leadership of the Catholic Church; does hereby extend wishes for strength, wisdom, health,
and divine guidance for his pontificate and pastoral mission; and does hereby affirm an
enduring commitment to faith, compassion, human dignity, peace among nations, and
service to one another.
