hr393/enrolled.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionHOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 393BY REPRESENTATIVE SCHAMERHORNA RESOLUTIONTo designate Wednesday, June 30, 2026, as Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC)Awareness Day at the state capitol and to commend Paisley Grace Langton andothers who face AMC.WHEREAS, Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita is a condition that causes joints tobe stiff and crooked at birth; a newborn with arthrogryposis lacks the normal range ofmotion in one or more joints; the condition develops prenatally and can be caused by anunderlying condition or syndrome; andWHEREAS, AMC is an umbrella diagnosis, meaning it is a part of many otherconditions and syndromes, and there are more than four hundred variations of the disease;the most common form of AMC is amyoplasia; andWHEREAS, a newborn must have at least three contracted joints in two separatebody areas to be diagnosed with AMC, and the condition occurs in one out of every threethousand births; andWHEREAS, AMC can affect the joints of the hands, feet, hips, knees, elbows,shoulders, wrists, fingers, toes, jaw, and spine, and the symptoms of the disease vary fromperson to person; andWHEREAS, Paisley Grace Langton is a resident of Sabine Parish who is battlingAMC like many other children across the world; though the condition is not curable, patientsreceive treatment that allows them to live with as much independence in their daily lives aspossible.Page 1 of 2HR NO. 393 ENROLLEDTHEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of theLegislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, June 30, 2026, asArthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) Awareness Day at the state capitol and doeshereby commend Paisley Grace Langton and others who face AMC.SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 2 of 2
