HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 393

  A RESOLUTION
To designate Wednesday, June 30, 2026, as Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC)
       Awareness Day at the state capitol and to commend Paisley Grace Langton and
       others who face AMC.
       WHEREAS, Arthrogryposis multiplex congenita is a condition that causes joints to
be stiff and crooked at birth; a newborn with arthrogryposis lacks the normal range of
motion in one or more joints; the condition develops prenatally and can be caused by an
underlying condition or syndrome; and
       WHEREAS, AMC is an umbrella diagnosis, meaning it is a part of many other
conditions and syndromes, and there are more than four hundred variations of the disease;
the most common form of AMC is amyoplasia; and
       WHEREAS, a newborn must have at least three contracted joints in two separate
body areas to be diagnosed with AMC, and the condition occurs in one out of every three
thousand births; and
       WHEREAS, AMC can affect the joints of the hands, feet, hips, knees, elbows,
shoulders, wrists, fingers, toes, jaw, and spine, and the symptoms of the disease vary from
person to person; and
       WHEREAS, Paisley Grace Langton is a resident of Sabine Parish who is battling
AMC like many other children across the world; though the condition is not curable, patients
receive treatment that allows them to live with as much independence in their daily lives as
possible.

       THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, June 30, 2026, as
Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) Awareness Day at the state capitol and does
hereby commend Paisley Grace Langton and others who face AMC.
