sr189/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE RESOLUTION NO. 189BY SENATOR REESEA RESOLUTIONTo commend James Williams for his forty-four years of distinguished service to thestudents, educators, and families of Vernon Parish, to recognize his extraordinaryleadership as superintendent of the Vernon Parish School Board, and to congratulatehim on the occasion of his retirement.WHEREAS, James Williams graduated from Leesville High School in 1977 andcontinued his academic journey at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana,where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1982; andWHEREAS, in 1994, Mr. Williams further advanced his professional preparation byearning a Master's Degree in Education Administration from McNeese State University inLake Charles, Louisiana; andWHEREAS, Mr. Williams began his career in education in 1982 as a social studiesteacher at Leesville High School, where he served until 1986; andWHEREAS, in August 1986, he joined the faculty of Crowley High School as asocial studies and physical education teacher, serving the students of Acadia Parish untilAugust 1990; andWHEREAS, Mr. Williams returned to Leesville High School in 1990, where hetaught social studies and physical education and coached multiple sports, demonstrating adeep commitment to student development both inside and outside the classroom; andWHEREAS, in 1995, Mr. Williams was promoted to assistant principal of LeesvilleHigh School, and in 1999 he became principal, a position he held with distinction for adecade; andWHEREAS, in 2009, Mr. Williams accepted the role of transportation and foodservice director for the Vernon Parish School Board, ensuring safe, efficient, andstudent-centered operations across the district; andWHEREAS, in 2014, he was appointed Superintendent of the Vernon Parish SchoolBoard, a role in which he has served for over twelve years, guiding the district with integrity,vision, and unwavering dedication; andPage 1 of 2SR NO. 189 ENROLLEDWHEREAS, throughout his forty-four year career, Mr. Williams has been a steadfastleader, a mentor to educators, and an inspiration to countless students, families, andcolleagues; andWHEREAS, Superintendent Williams will now enter a well-earned retirement,leaving behind a legacy of excellence that will continue to shape the Vernon Parish SchoolSystem for generations.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisianadoes hereby commend James Williams for his forty-four years of distinguished service tothe students, educators, and families of Vernon Parish, recognizes his extraordinaryleadership as superintendent of the Vernon Parish School Board, and congratulates him onthe occasion of his retirement.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted toJames Williams.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATEPage 2 of 2
