SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 189

  A RESOLUTION
To commend James Williams for his forty-four years of distinguished service to the
        students, educators, and families of Vernon Parish, to recognize his extraordinary
        leadership as superintendent of the Vernon Parish School Board, and to congratulate
        him on the occasion of his retirement.
        WHEREAS, James Williams graduated from Leesville High School in 1977 and
continued his academic journey at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana,
where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1982; and
        WHEREAS, in 1994, Mr. Williams further advanced his professional preparation by
earning a Master's Degree in Education Administration from McNeese State University in
Lake Charles, Louisiana; and
        WHEREAS, Mr. Williams began his career in education in 1982 as a social studies
teacher at Leesville High School, where he served until 1986; and
        WHEREAS, in August 1986, he joined the faculty of Crowley High School as a
social studies and physical education teacher, serving the students of Acadia Parish until
August 1990; and
        WHEREAS, Mr. Williams returned to Leesville High School in 1990, where he
taught social studies and physical education and coached multiple sports, demonstrating a
deep commitment to student development both inside and outside the classroom; and
        WHEREAS, in 1995, Mr. Williams was promoted to assistant principal of Leesville
High School, and in 1999 he became principal, a position he held with distinction for a
decade; and
        WHEREAS, in 2009, Mr. Williams accepted the role of transportation and food
service director for the Vernon Parish School Board, ensuring safe, efficient, and
student-centered operations across the district; and
        WHEREAS, in 2014, he was appointed Superintendent of the Vernon Parish School
Board, a role in which he has served for over twelve years, guiding the district with integrity,
vision, and unwavering dedication; and

       WHEREAS, throughout his forty-four year career, Mr. Williams has been a steadfast
leader, a mentor to educators, and an inspiration to countless students, families, and
colleagues; and
       WHEREAS, Superintendent Williams will now enter a well-earned retirement,
leaving behind a legacy of excellence that will continue to shape the Vernon Parish School
System for generations.
       THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend James Williams for his forty-four years of distinguished service to
the students, educators, and families of Vernon Parish, recognizes his extraordinary
leadership as superintendent of the Vernon Parish School Board, and congratulates him on
the occasion of his retirement.
       BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
James Williams.
