sr187/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE RESOLUTION NO. 187BY SENATOR CARTERA RESOLUTIONTo urge and request the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administrationof Criminal Justice (LCLE) to report to the Senate Committee on Judiciary B on theprogress of the implementation of Act 426 of the 2025 Regular Session.WHEREAS, the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administrationof Criminal Justice is charged with supporting, coordinating, and enhancing the effectivenessof the state's criminal justice system; andWHEREAS, Act 426 of the 2025 Regular Session established important requirementsthat the P.O.S.T. Council adopt a policy regarding mandatory reporting when a peace officeruses force, under certain circumstances; andWHEREAS, the successful implementation of Act 426 is essential to achieving theLegislature's goals of improving public safety, enhancing accountability, and ensuringconsistent standards across law enforcement agencies; andWHEREAS, ongoing legislative oversight is necessary to monitor progress, identifychallenges, and ensure that the provisions of Act 426 are being carried out as intended; andWHEREAS, the Senate Committee on Judiciary B is the appropriate body to receiveupdates and evaluate the status of implementation efforts.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisianadoes hereby urge and request the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and theAdministration of Criminal Justice to report to the Senate Committee on Judiciary B on theprogress of the implementation of Act 426 of the 2025 Regular Session.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the report shall include, at minimum:(1) A summary of actions taken to implement Act 426 to date.(2) Identification of challenges or barriers encountered during implementation.(3) A timeline of remaining tasks necessary to achieve full compliance.(4) Recommendations for any legislative or administrative changes needed to supportsuccessful implementation.Page 1 of 2SR NO. 187 ENROLLEDBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that LCLE shall submit its report to the SenateCommittee on Judiciary B no later than September 1, 2026.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to thechairman of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration ofCriminal Justice.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATEPage 2 of 2
