A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and memory of Ronald D. Wood; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its distinguished citizens with the
passing of Ronald D. Wood; and
WHEREAS, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, Ronald D. Wood graduated from Albany State
College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and distinguished
himself as a member of the Golden Rams football team; and
WHEREAS, deeply committed to his alma mater, he devoted more than 45 years to
advancing Albany State University through generous financial support, student-athlete
scholarships, service on the Albany State University Foundation Board of Directors,
participation in the Albany State University Alumni Association, and leadership as the
founding president of the Albany State University Athletic Association; and
WHEREAS, he enjoyed a successful professional career with Ford Motor Company, Western
Electric, and Monsanto before pursuing entrepreneurship and founding the R.D. Wood
Insurance Agency in College Park, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, through vision, integrity, and sound leadership, he built the agency into one of
the Southeast's premier independent insurance agencies, providing insurance services across
multiple states for more than five decades and earning the respect of colleagues throughout
the industry; and
WHEREAS, he was an active member of 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Kappa Alpha Psi
Fraternity Inc., The Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia, the Professional Insurance
Agents of Georgia, the Atlanta Airport Rotary Club, and Zion Hill Baptist Church, and he
generously supported youth sports programs and scholarship initiatives that encouraged
educational achievement and personal growth; and
WHEREAS, he further distinguished himself through his dedication to mentoring and
uplifting young people, earning the Rammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his
commitment to youth development and community service through the Youth Motivation
Task Force; and
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Ronald D. Wood will long be remembered
for his love of family, friendship, and community and will be missed by all who had the great
fortune of knowing him.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body
join in honoring the life and memory of Ronald D. Wood and express their deepest and most
sincere regret at his passing.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of
Ronald D. Wood.
