sr14/enrolled.txt26LC 112 4332Senate Resolution 14EXBy: Senators James of the 28th, Davenport of the 17th, Mangham of the 55th, Rhett of the33rd and Jones II of the 22ndA RESOLUTION1 Honoring the life and memory of Reverend Robert Lee Abrams; and for other purposes.2 WHEREAS, Reverend Robert Lee Abrams devoted his life to faith, service, civil rights,3 voting rights advocacy, education, and community empowerment; and4 WHEREAS, as a young man in Mississippi, he courageously participated in efforts to5 register Black voters and support desegregation, demonstrating an unwavering commitment6 to justice and equality; and7 WHEREAS, throughout his ministry in the United Methodist Church, Reverend Abrams8 provided spiritual guidance, pastoral care, mentorship and leadership to countless individuals9 and families; and10 WHEREAS, he worked tirelessly to encourage civic engagement, voter participation,11 educational achievement, and community responsibility; and12 WHEREAS, together with his wife, Reverend Carolyn Abrams, he raised seven children with13 a strong foundation of faith, service, leadership, and dedication to improving the lives of14 others; andS. R. 14EX-1-26LC 112 433215 WHEREAS, Reverend Abrams inspired generations through community outreach, youth16 mentoring, volunteer service, advocacy for social justice, and support for underserved17 populations; and18 WHEREAS, his life reflected the principle that every individual has a responsibility to19 contribute to the betterment of society, regardless of circumstance; and20 WHEREAS, his enduring legacy continues through the countless lives he touched, the21 communities he strengthened, and leaders inspired.22 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body23 join in honoring the life and memory of Reverend Robert Lee Abrams, whose service,24 leadership, faith, and advocacy stand as a testament to the power of courage, compassion,25 integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice for all people.26 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed27 to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to the family of28 Reverend Robert Lee Abrams.S.
