Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A house RESOLUTIONTO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE HONORABLE Michael F.Rivers Sr. OF Beaufort COUNTY FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE IN THE HOUSE OFREPRESENTATIVES ON BEHALF OF HIS CONSTITUENTS AND THE CITIZENS OF SOUTHCAROLINA AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTUREENDEAVORS.Whereas, the members ofthe South Carolina House of Representatives learned with sincere regret that MichaelF. Rivers Sr. will depart from the House of Representatives at the conclusionof his current term; andWhereas, born in Baltimore,Maryland, on October 16, 1958, his biological parents are Cleaver B. Johnsonand Julia Boles, and his parents who reared him are Harris and Ophelia Rivers;andWhereas, RepresentativeRivers earned a technical certificate in 1980 from DeVry Institute, a CAD and draftingcertificate in 2003 from the Technical College of the Lowcountry, and abachelor's degree in 2008 from Claflin University; andWhereas, he is theproud father of three fine children: Monica, Michelle, and Michael Jr. Theyhave blessed him with the affection of two loving grandchildren; andWhereas, in thepatriotic tradition of the Palmetto State, Representative Rivers served in theUnited States Air Force from 1976 to 1978; andWhereas, when away fromhis duties in the House of Representatives, he resides on St. Helena Island, andas a minister, he serves as a member of the Beaufort County MinisterialAlliance; andWhereas, deeplyinvolved in his community, Representative Rivers is a member of the NAACP and servedon the Beaufort County School Board from 1998 to 2016; andWhereas, he hasfaithfully served the citizens of District 121 in Beaufort and Colleton countiesin the House of Representatives since 2017, most recently during that timeserving on the Education and Public Works Committee and the GovernmentEfficiency and Legislative Oversight Committee; andWhereas, in all of hisservice, Representative Rivers has provided deep concern for the needs of hisconstituents; andWhereas, the members ofthe House of Representatives will miss the keen and impassioned service thatMichael Rivers, their friend and colleague, has given to the House ofRepresentatives, and hope that he will enjoy gratifying success in the years ahead.Now, therefore,Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:That the members of theSouth Carolina House of Representatives,by this resolution, recognize and commend the Honorable Michael F.
