Sinai Missionary Baptist Church for more than 5013 years, during which time he purchased, renovated, and14 transformed a former warehouse into the church's permanent15 home; under his leadership, the church served as a community16 sanctuary where youth programs, choir ministries, neighborhood17 gatherings, meal distributions, and countless community events18 flourished; the church also hosted early campaign activities19 for the mayoral campaign of Mayor Harold Washington and later20 supported the aldermanic campaigns of Alderperson Shirley A.21 Coleman; andHR1016 - 2 - LRB104 22942 ECR 39396 r1 WHEREAS, Pastor Coleman devoted his life to faith, family,2 service, and the advancement of Chicago's Englewood community;3 his extraordinary contributions to the spiritual, civic, and4 social fabric of the Englewood community will leave an5 enduring legacy that will continue to inspire generations to6 come; therefore, be it7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE8 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that9 we mourn the passing of Reverend David Coleman Sr. and extend10 our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who11 knew and loved him; and be it further12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be13 presented to the family of Pastor Coleman as an expression of14 our deepest sympathy.
