1 HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, September 17, 2026 marks the 239th anniversary of
3 the drafting of the Constitution of the United States of
4 America at the Constitutional Convention; and
5 WHEREAS, It is fitting and proper to accord official
6 recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable
7 anniversary and to the patriotic celebrations that will
8 commemorate the occasion; and
9 WHEREAS, The General John Stark Chapter of the National
10 Society Daughters of the American Revolution are a diverse
11 group of patriotic women who share a common bond of heritage
12 with an ancestor who served or aided the American cause during
13 the American Revolution, and these members also share a
14 passion for God, home, and country; and
15 WHEREAS, The Constitution of the United States has stood
16 the test of time and remains an example to the rest of the
17 world of an effective framework for a free society; and
18 WHEREAS, Public Law 915, passed by the 84th Congress in
19 1956, authorizes the President of the United States to
20 designate September 17 through September 23 as Constitution
21 Week; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we recognize the week of September 17 through September 23,
4 2026 as Constitution Week; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6 presented to the General John Stark Chapter of the National
7 Society Daughters of the American Revolution as a symbol of
8 our esteem and respect.
