Document has been reformatted to meet World Wide Web specifications.)A House RESOLUTIONTO CONGRATULATE WCRS RADIO UPON THE OCCASION OF ITSEIGHTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY, TO COMMEND THE STATION FOR ITS LONGSTANDING SERVICETO GREENWOOD AND THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR MANYMORE YEARS OF BROADCASTING AS "THE VOICE OF GREENWOOD."Whereas, on September1, 1941, WCRS Radio began broadcasting to the people of Greenwood at 1450 onthe AM dial, a tradition of local broadcasting that has continued foreighty-five years. Through generations of change in broadcasting and in theGreenwood community, the original 1450, WCRS, has remained a distinctly localvoice, informing, entertaining, and connecting the people it serves; andWhereas, foreighty-five years, WCRS has provided coverage of local news and public affairs,local businesses, elections, government, high school and college sports, civicorganizations, emergencies, community celebrations, charitable causes, music,and stories of those who call Greenwood home; andWhereas, WCRS hasprovided generations of Greenwood citizens with an opportunity to hear thevoices of their neighbors, community leaders, public officials, educators,business owners, veterans, artists, students, and others whose lives havehelped shape the community. Today WCRS continues that tradition of localservice on 1450 AM and 98.5 FM, embracing new technology while preserving thefundamental purpose of local radio: to serve and connect its community; andWhereas, under theownership and leadership of Anne Eller, WCRS has continued its commitment tolocally produced programming and community service while preserving the legacyof one of Greenwood's longstanding broadcasting institutions. September 1,2026, marks eighty-five years since WCRS first took to the airwaves, anextraordinary milestone representing more than eight decades of continuousconnection between a radio station and the community it serves.
