The cash injections and a bull market for stocks has boosted the combined funded ratio for the pensions to an estimated 73.6% in fiscal year 2026 from 44.4% in fiscal year 2020, the biggest improvement among US states, according to a July report by the Equable Institute. Reduction of the state’s pension debt has led to credit rating upgrades.
