# Taylor: Fixes needed for Delaware’s ‘power crisis’

After reading recent headlines about Delaware’s push for solar energy, the Opinion written by Rep. Jeff Hilovsky, R-Millsboro, about nuclear energy is much more relevant and important (“Nuclear energy task force fell short”). Please read it if you have not done so! The task force did nothing to advance nuclear energy, which has been the Democrats’ mantra for 30 years. Delaware Democrats support the Green New Deal, which almost sank the United States energy- and budgetwise, and now, they want Delaware to go down the same rabbit hole.

Delaware faces short- and long-term electric energy problems. Delaware imports 60% of its power. The further the power comes over lines, the weaker it is and the more costly. Yet Delaware Democrats, for 30 years, have continued to kick the can down the road and hang their hats on wind and solar. Wind and solar are not dependable sources of power. Donald Trump has stopped all wind projects.

Delaware is in a power crisis, and failure to act on the task force’s recommendations is going to be very costly to the citizens of Delaware. Democrats also increase the state’s budget 5% every year, which is a spending problem.

Wake up, Delaware. Vote Republican!
