A lobbying group for real estate agents just put $10 million into a campaign to pass Amendment 3, the proposed constitutional amendment that would dramatically cut and cap local property taxes across Florida — while also forcing steep cuts to local government services and further consolidating governing power in Tallahassee.
Just-posted campaign finance reports show that the Florida Realtors parked the $10 million late last week in “ Vote Yes on 3.” It’s a political committee the real estate lobbying group recently set up that can be used to pay for television commercials, neighborhood canvassers, and other campaign expenses in support of the November ballot measure, which will need support from at least 60 percent of voters to pass.
It’s the first major infusion of cash into the campaign for Amendment 3, which Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature rushed onto the ballot during a 27-hour special session in June — despite widespread confusion, even among the legislators who voted for it, about how the plan would actually work.
The proposal — which pairs an immediate and massive tax break for homeowners with a longer-term and almost-as-big tax cut for all other property owners — is expected to wipe out more than $12 billion a year in revenue for cities, counties and towns in Florida. That’s nearly a quarter of all local government property tax collections.
A deep property tax cut is also likely to drive up home prices in Florida, which is one reason the Florida Realtors — whose members make their living on sales commissions that rise alongside housing prices — is so invested in getting the amendment passed.
A host of people and interest groups have came out in opposition to Amendment 3, ranging from Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd and the Fraternal Order of Police to the environmental preservation group 1000 Friends of Florida and the Florida Rural Economic Development Association.
Several political committees have been formed to campaign against the amendment — including Vote No on 3 Florida and Floridians for Shared Prosperity — though none has yet raised anywhere close to the $10 million that the Florida Realtors just dropped into its yes-on-three effort.
The top donor so far to Vote No on 3 Florida is the Florida Association of Special Districts, which records show donated $100,000 last week. The top funder of Floridians for Shared Prosperity is the Florida Policy Institute, an Orlando-based think tank that promotes policies like Medicaid expansion and that has put around $60,000 into the committee so far.

Okay, what people do not understand (we have been taught wrong for a reason) is that there is NO inherit value in anything. Full stop. When a transaction occurs "value" is traded for an agreed amount between two or more parties. After that, there is no value until another transaction occurs again.
Your house has NO VALUE until it's sold. Housing prices swing drastically for many reasons. One of which that lead to the 1990s bankers going to jail and the 2008 (manufactured) crisis is appraisal value. The banks dismissed the risk officers who were the guard rails that could have prevented the 2008 "crisis." Full Stop.
This is terrible they are promoting this bill with misinformation.
But even worse~
The news media ignores former bank lawyers and fraud experts whom can relate (with facts) to why wee have over priced housing as a direct link to the 2008 manufactured crisis.
