The [September Emerson College Polling/Nextstar Media Iowa survey](https://emersoncollegepolling.com/iowa-2026-poll-hinson-leads-turek/) was just released. It shows Republican Ashley Hinson with 50% support to Democrat Josh Turek’s 45% support. Hinson’s lead grew two points since the August poll while Turek’s was unchanged. Democrat Rob Sand leads Republican Zach Lahn in the race for governor. Sand received 49% support while Lahn got 46%, while 6% are undecided. “About six percent of voters in the Iowa poll are splitting their ticket to support both Republican Ashley Hinson for Senate and Democrat Rob Sand for Governor,” Executive Director of Emerson College Polling Spencer Kimball said. ## Data Centers impact The September poll also showed 60% of Iowa voters think data centers will negatively impact the environment and 52% think it will negatively impact cost of living. Voters are split on how they will impact jobs in the state. ## Majority of Iowans oppose Flock cameras The poll also asked voters about installed automated cameras, often called Flock cameras. These are used by law enforcement to take pictures of vehicles and record license plates. It found 61% of Iowans oppose Flock cameras while 26% support them. The Emerson College Poll was conducted August 31-September 1 and has a margin of error of 3.6%. *Copyright 2026 KCRG.
