He was picked up on an active warrant related to avoiding court hearings related to his divorce and child support.

The Republican Party of Family Values strikes again! In hilarious fashion. FAFO? Maybe. But I just like to call it karma.

Former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin was arrested while participating in a movie being produced in Bourbon County after someone CALLED the Sheriff's office to turn him in! Guys. I cannot.

Listen to the call embedded in the Fox 19 news article.

The transcript is as follows:

CALLER: Hi. I am not sure if Governor or ex-Governor Matt Bevin still has an arrest warrant out for him for missing court in July, but he's currently in Paris, Kentucky, and I have an address for him if that's in any interest.

DISPATCHER: Sure. What's the address for him?

CALLER: Sorry. And he's currently at... [redacted] Yeah, he's working on a Hallmark movie set.

DISPATCHER: He's working on a Hallmark movie set?

CALLER: Yeah, there's like a Hallmark movie filming today, and he's one of the people working currently right now.

DISPATCHER: What's his name?

CALLER: Matt Bevin.

DISPATCHER: Matt Bevin?

CALLER: Yeah, like the ex-governor who has an arrest warrant out.

DISPATCHER: Do you have a date of birth?

CALLER: Um... Hold on. Let me see. Um... [redacted]

DISPATCHER: We'll look into it.

CALLER: Okay, perfect. Thank you.

Well, it was indeed him. And he is in jail right now.

He had an active bench warrant out of Jefferson County for contempt of court. Why? Well, he refused to provide financial records (as ordered by the court) for his divorce and child support case.

The attorney for his son, Jonah, released a statement after the arrest:

"This was never about sending a former governor to jail -- it was about getting support for a child who now has to see his father choose incarceration over supporting him.:

UPDATE: The judge DENIED bond and sentenced Bevin to 60 days in jail!

He appeared in court in a fancy, court-issued orange jumpsuit. How autumnal - very pumpkin spicy.

Bevin's attorney was aghast that his client had to attend a hearing - he is not a regular person, I guess? The attorney felt strongly that he could get super special MAGA treatment and serve the time in home detention, expressing concern that he could have a less-than-fun time in jail because of his political career.

HAHAHAHAHHHA. Okay.

The attorney for Jonah, Bevin's estranged adopted son, was fine with his dad serving time, as he had "spent a significant amount of time as a fugitive from the court and asked it to enforce its order, since Bevin is no different from any ordinary citizen."

Exactly, Jonah.

In sentencing him to 60 days in jail, the judge cited Bevin's "long history of obstructing court orders by repeatedly missing hearings and turning over heavily redacted documents."

If only he had complied, right?
