Nevada Republican congressional candidate Marty O'Donnell posted this photo of himself and Donald Trump on O'Donnell's campaign website following Trump's visit to Las Vegas in April, 2026. (Official White House Photo by Daniel Torok) Marty O’Donnell, the video game composer challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District, is 1 of 12 Republican candidates scheduled to speak at an atypical party convention later this week.
Conventions are typically held every four years in conjunction with the selection of presidential nominees. Republicans have never held a midterm convention before but President Donald Trump and his allies believe a midterm convention will rally supporters and donors ahead of November.
The convention — dubbed ”Trumpapalooza” — is scheduled to take place in Dallas on Wednesday and Thursday. The president will speak both days, according to a GOP release.
Vice President J.D. Vance, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, and Donald Trump Jr. are among other MAGA allies scheduled to speak. O’Donnell was announced as one of at least a dozen congressional candidates who will appear and give comments.
O’Donnell has been endorsed by Trump and spoke at a rally the president held in Las Vegas last month.
Inflation and high gas prices, trade wars, the war in Iran, and Trump’s steady preoccupation with his Washington D.C. remodeling priorities have combined to earn him some of the lowest approval ratings of either of his terms as president.
Politico reported last week that dozens of Republican congressional contenders were either taking a pass on the Trumpapalooza, or declined to say whether they would be attending.
“As the lone Nevadan on the program, Marty is honored to speak at the RNC Convention on Thursday,” O’Donnell campaign spokesman Keith Schipper. “He will be talking about how Susie Lee created our affordability crisis, refused to apologize for it, and how he will work to finish more of the Trump agenda so every family can get ahead on one good job.”
