SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 88
  In Memory
  of
  Willie Brown
         WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew
  to a close with the passing of Willie Charles Brown of Troup on
  June 19, 2025, at the age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Willie Winston Brown and Georgia Lee
  Broughton, "Joe Boy" Brown was born in Whitehouse on September
  17, 1940; after graduating from Arp Industrial High School, he
  completed his bachelor's degree at Prairie View A&M University,
  where he balanced academic studies with many hours of hands-on
  work at the institution's farm; he went on to earn a master's
  degree at Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Brown proudly served his country in the
  U.S. Army for nearly three decades, and he cherished the lasting
  bonds he formed with his comrades; over the years, he often
  shared stories, whether humorous or profound, from his days as a
  soldier; his military discipline and leadership carried over to
  his civilian career as a construction foreman; the projects he
  worked on included several of the most notable buildings in
  Houston, and he was dedicated to ensuring fine craftsmanship and
  attention to detail; following his retirement from the army in
  1994, he gave back to his community as an agriculture teacher; he
  had a great love for the land and enjoyed tending his garden,
  managing his herd of cattle, and spending peaceful hours on his
  farm; and
         WHEREAS, For more than half a century, Mr. Brown served as
  a deacon, most recently at New Canaan Baptist Church in
  Whitehouse; he inspired others through his wisdom, compassion,
  and unwavering commitment to his faith and his family; in all his
  endeavors, he was supported by the love and encouragement of his
  wife, Beverly J. Brown, who preceded him in death, and he was a
  devoted father to his seven children, Raquel, Jennifer, Ashley,
  Kimberley, Marcus, Anthony, and Byron; and
         WHEREAS, Although Joe Boy Brown is deeply missed, those who
  held him dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness that
  he brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
  of Willie Charles "Joe Boy" Brown and extend sincere sympathy to
  the members of his family: to his siblings, Johnnie Johnson,
  James Brown and his wife, Velma, LeBertha Mitchell and her
  husband, Rayford, Ella Brown, Marilyn Griffith and her husband,
  Kirby, and David Brown and his wife, Maurita; to his children,
  Raquel Harrison and her husband, Sha-Michael, Jennifer Brown,
  Ashley Brown and her husband, Johnathan, Kimberly Brown, Marcus
  Brown and his wife, Julia, Anthony Brown, and Byron Brown; to his
  grandchildren, Brandy Walker, David, Brianna, and Brittany
  Carter, Jace and Serena Brown, and Ashton Lincoln; to his
  great-grandchildren, Mason and Kori Smith; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Joe Boy Brown.
