R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, San Antonio taqueria El Pastor Es Mi Señor has
garnered numerous accolades; and
WHEREAS, In 2020, El Pastor Es Mi Señor was established by
family-owned restaurant group Chilangos Gringos, building upon the
success of its three previous concepts, Yellowfish Sushi, fusion
sushi eatery Japamex, and sushi delivery business Pinkfish; and
WHEREAS, Siblings Brenda and Alex Sarmiento of Chilangos
Gringos developed El Pastor Es Mi Señor as a tribute to the tacos al
pastor of their native Mexico City; the eatery faced a serious
challenge four days after its opening, when the COVID-19 pandemic
closed dining rooms; nevertheless, the restaurant found its
following; and
WHEREAS, El Pastor Es Mi Señor has been widely recognized,
including by the San Antonio Express-News and the Netflix program
Taco Chronicles, and the taco editor of Texas Monthly proclaimed
the tacos al pastor to be potentially the best in the state; in
2025, the Sarmientos were named state semifinalists in the Best
Chef category of the prestigious James Beard Awards; and
WHEREAS, Locally owned businesses make a welcome
contribution to the prosperity and distinct character of their
communities, and it is a pleasure to recognize El Pastor Es Mi Señor
and the reputation for excellence that it has achieved; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor El Pastor Es Mi Señor
and extend to Brenda and Alex Sarmiento and their staff sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the restaurant as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
