Department of Transportation to rename the eastbound bridge
on U.S. Highway 50 over Tanners Creek in Lawrenceburg the
"Lary D. Fogle Memorial Bridge" and the westbound flyover
bridge on U.S. Highway 50 in Lawrenceburg the "Thomas G.
Denning Memorial Bridge".

              HOUSE CONCURRENT
               RESOLUTION No. 5
1     A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
2 Department of Transportation to rename the eastbound bridge
3 on U.S. Highway 50 over Tanners Creek in Lawrenceburg the
4 "Lary D. Fogle Memorial Bridge" and the westbound flyover
5 bridge on U.S. Highway 50 in Lawrenceburg the "Thomas G.
6 Denning Memorial Bridge".
7     Whereas, Lary D. Fogle and Thomas G. Denning , both
8 from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, honorably served the United
9 States during the Vietnam War, giving their lives in defense of
10 their country;
11     Whereas, Both men were graduates of the Lawrenceburg
12 Consolidated High School Class of 1965 and entered military
13 service with a deep sense of duty and commitment to their
14 nation;
15      Whereas, Lary Fogle, an airborne paratrooper in the
16 United States Army, was the first resident of Dearborn County
17 to lose his life in the Vietnam War, killed in action at the young
18 age of 18 years and four days;
19     Whereas, Private Fogle was awarded the Bronze Star and
20 the Purple Heart for his service, and his name is memorialized
21 on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., on
22 Panel 4E, Line 30;
23      Whereas, Thomas Denning proudly served in the United
24 States Marine Corps with the 3rd Marines at Quang Tri,
25 fulfilling his lifelong dream of becoming a Marine;

1     Whereas, Lance Corporal Denning received two Purple
2 Hearts for his bravery and was killed in action while leading an
3 assault. His name is honored on the Vietnam Veterans
4 Memorial, Panel 16E, Line 1; and
5     Whereas, Both men are remembered by their families,
6 classmates, and community for their courage, character, and
7 devotion to service. Their sacrifices continue to inspire the
8 people of Lawrenceburg and Dearborn County: Therefore,
9Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
10of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
11the Senate concurring:
12     SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
13 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the eastbound
14 bridges on U.S. Highway 50 over Tanners Creek in
15 Lawrenceburg the "Lary D. Fogle Memorial Bridge" and the
16 westbound flyover bridge on U.S. Highway 50 in Lawrenceburg
17 the "Thomas G. Denning Memorial Bridge”.
18     SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
19 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to the
20 Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation.
