They introduced10 automobile tires in the 1890s, setting the company on the path11 to becoming one of the world's iconic tire manufacturers;12 Whereas, BFGoodrich Company was founded in 1870,13 manufactured the first U.S. pneumatic tire in 1896, and in 197614 created the world's first radial all-terrain performance tire,15 launching the all-terrain category;16 Whereas, BFGoodrich broke ground on its tire production17 facility in Fort Wayne in 1960 and produced its first tire on18 September 20, 1961;19 Whereas, The twentieth century marked a period of20 significant product innovation, growth, and demand. Michelin21 began expanding into new global markets, including North22 America;23 Whereas, Michelin acquired BFGoodrich in 1990, aligning24 complementary product portfolios;2026 HC 1016/DI 14021 Whereas, Michelin's continued demonstrated commitment to2 Fort Wayne since the 1990s has been successful;3 Whereas, Michelin has been an outstanding corporate citizen,4 donating millions of dollars and volunteering tens of thousands5 of hours to support the communities where its associates live6 and work;7 Whereas, The company's economic growth has benefited8 many generations of workers through thriving manufacturing9 careers;10 Whereas, The company proudly employs more than 1,50011 people at its Fort Wayne BFGoodrich manufacturing site; and12 Whereas, The members of the Indiana General Assembly13 greatly appreciate Michelin's dedication and commitment to14 serving the people of Indiana: Therefore,15Be it resolved by the House of Representatives16of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,17the Senate concurring:18 SECTION 1.
