A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating Michelin
North America, Inc., upon the occasion of the 65th anniversary
of its BFGoodrich tire production facility in Fort Wayne,
Indiana.
Whereas, The BFGoodrich tire production facility in Fort
Wayne, Indiana, will be celebrating its 65th anniversary in
2026;
Whereas, Michelin initially produced removable pneumatic
tires for bicycles and horse-drawn carriages. They introduced
automobile tires in the 1890s, setting the company on the path
to becoming one of the world's iconic tire manufacturers;
Whereas, BFGoodrich Company was founded in 1870,
manufactured the first U.S. pneumatic tire in 1896, and in 1976
created the world's first radial all-terrain performance tire,
launching the all-terrain category;
Whereas, BFGoodrich broke ground on its tire production
facility in Fort Wayne in 1960 and produced its first tire on
September 20, 1961;
Whereas, The twentieth century marked a period of
significant product innovation, growth, and demand. Michelin
began expanding into new global markets, including North
America;
Whereas, Michelin acquired BFGoodrich in 1990, aligning
complementary product portfolios;

Whereas, Michelin's continued demonstrated commitment to
Fort Wayne since the 1990s has been successful;
Whereas, Michelin has been an outstanding corporate citizen,
donating millions of dollars and volunteering tens of thousands
of hours to support the communities where its associates live
and work;
Whereas, The company's economic growth has benefited
many generations of workers through thriving manufacturing
careers;
Whereas, The company proudly employs more than 1,500
people at its Fort Wayne BFGoodrich manufacturing site; and
Whereas, The members of the Indiana General Assembly
greatly appreciate Michelin's dedication and commitment to
serving the people of Indiana: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
the Senate concurring:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly
congratulates Michelin North America, Inc., upon the occasion
of the 65th anniversary of its BFGoodrich tire manufacturing
operations and commends the company for its many years of
dedicated service to the Allen County community and the
people of Indiana.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the
director of Michelin's BFGoodrich tire manufacturing plant in
Fort Wayne.
