1A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Joseph H.
2 Mattingly, Jr.
3WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a born in Louisville on August 4, 1932,
4 and was the son of Hubie and Josephine Fleig Mattingly; and
5WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a valued member of the Loretto
6 community in Marion County, where he operated the Mattingly Funeral Home and,
7 earlier, the Loretto Barber Shop; and
8WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a dedicated community servant, serving
9 five terms as the Marion County Coroner, as well as serving his country in the United
10 States Army, serving both roles with honor, integrity, and distinction; and
11WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., served God as a faithful member of the Saint
12 Francis of Assisi Church; and
13WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved husband of
14 Carolyn Masterson Mattingly, to whom he was married 67 years; and
15WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved father of Donna
16 (Stephen Brady) Mattingly, Joe (Carol) Mattingly, Alan (Cyndi) Mattingly, Norine
17 (Bruce) Masterson, Laura (Wayne) Mitchell, and Gail Boggs; and
18WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved grandfather of
19 Elizabeth (Aaron) Lanning, Matthew Smith, Christine (Cole) Sinkford, Nicole (Jordan
20 Patterson) Mattingly, Kelly Mattingly, Alex Mattingly, Joseph Mattingly, Eric
21 (Christianne) Masterson, Andrew Masterson, Daniel (Rachael) Masterson, Brooke
22 Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Katie Boggs, Benjamin Boggs, Abby Boggs, and Josie Boggs;
23 and
24WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved great-grandfather
25 of Cooper Burrice, Jack Burrice, Clay Sinkford, Matthew Masterson, Henry Masterson,
26 James Masterson, Patrick Masterson, Noah Masterson, Emmaline Masterson, and Maria
27 Josephine Masterson; and

1WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. was the loving and beloved brother of Betty
2 Ackermann, Carol Mattingly, Brenda Mattingly, Mary Thornberry, Patsy Clements,
3 Rosie (Michael) Bickett, Nancy Mattingly, Billy (Libby) Mattingly and Lynn (David)
4 Hall; and
5WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. was the brother of Robert K. Mattingly and
6 David Louis Mattingly, Rita Carol Mattingly, and the father-in-law of David W. Boggs,
7 all of whom preceded him in passing; and
8WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., departed this earthly life on February 23,
9 2026;
10NOW, THEREFORE,
11 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of
12 Kentucky:
13Section 1.      The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sympathy upon the
14 passing of Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., and extends heartfelt condolences to his family,
15 friends, and community.
16Section 2.      When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving
17 memory of Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr.
18Section 3.       The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this
19 Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery to the family.
