A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Joseph H.
Mattingly, Jr.
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a born in Louisville on August 4, 1932,
and was the son of Hubie and Josephine Fleig Mattingly; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a valued member of the Loretto
community in Marion County, where he operated the Mattingly Funeral Home and,
earlier, the Loretto Barber Shop; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was a dedicated community servant, serving
five terms as the Marion County Coroner, as well as serving his country in the United
States Army, serving both roles with honor, integrity, and distinction; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., served God as a faithful member of the Saint
Francis of Assisi Church; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved husband of
Carolyn Masterson Mattingly, to whom he was married 67 years; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved father of Donna
(Stephen Brady) Mattingly, Joe (Carol) Mattingly, Alan (Cyndi) Mattingly, Norine
(Bruce) Masterson, Laura (Wayne) Mitchell, and Gail Boggs; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved grandfather of
Elizabeth (Aaron) Lanning, Matthew Smith, Christine (Cole) Sinkford, Nicole (Jordan
Patterson) Mattingly, Kelly Mattingly, Alex Mattingly, Joseph Mattingly, Eric
(Christianne) Masterson, Andrew Masterson, Daniel (Rachael) Masterson, Brooke
Mitchell, Blake Mitchell, Katie Boggs, Benjamin Boggs, Abby Boggs, and Josie Boggs;
and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., was the loving and beloved great-grandfather
of Cooper Burrice, Jack Burrice, Clay Sinkford, Matthew Masterson, Henry Masterson,
James Masterson, Patrick Masterson, Noah Masterson, Emmaline Masterson, and Maria
Josephine Masterson; and

WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. was the loving and beloved brother of Betty
Ackermann, Carol Mattingly, Brenda Mattingly, Mary Thornberry, Patsy Clements,
Rosie (Michael) Bickett, Nancy Mattingly, Billy (Libby) Mattingly and Lynn (David)
Hall; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr. was the brother of Robert K. Mattingly and
David Louis Mattingly, Rita Carol Mattingly, and the father-in-law of David W. Boggs,
all of whom preceded him in passing; and
WHEREAS, Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., departed this earthly life on February 23,
2026;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate hereby expresses its most profound sympathy upon the
passing of Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr., and extends heartfelt condolences to his family,
friends, and community.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving
memory of Joseph H. Mattingly, Jr.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to Senator Jimmy Higdon for delivery to the family.
