A RESOLUTION congratulating The Goat Project at Vaughn's Branch/Oxford
Circle on winning the Environmental Commission of Lexington-Fayette Urban County
Government's Outstanding Project in Sustainability Award.
WHEREAS, each spring, the communities of Vaughn's Branch and Oxford Circle
in Lexington, come together to remove trash and debris from the area to prepare for a
herd of goats to inhabit the area; and
WHEREAS, Paula Singer and David Neville, who provide the goats for The Goat
Project, display sustainability in action, a commitment to urban agriculture and
agritourism that has resulted in a rejuvenated neighborhood space; and
WHEREAS, for many years, the Vaughn's Branch/Oxford Circle neighborhood was
overgrown, neglected, and littered with trash but thanks to the community's welcome of
The Goat Project, the neighborhood is now a well-kept and valued recreational space for
all to enjoy; and
WHEREAS, The Goat Project was recognized as an Outstanding Project in
Sustainability at the Environmental Commission of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County
Government's 2025 Environmental Awards Breakfast on June 25, 2025. Projects
recognized in this award category demonstrate integration of the three pillars of
sustainability: environmental benefit, social responsibility, and economic viability; and
WHEREAS, The Goat Project's success within the Vaughn's Branch/Oxford Circle
neighborhood is proof of the positive change that urban agriculture and community
action, working together, can have on both the environment and the culture of a
community;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky:
Section 1. The members of the Senate join Senator Reginald Thomas in
honoring The Goat Project for being awarded the Environmental Commission of the

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government's 2025 Outstanding Project in
Sustainability.
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to Senator Reginald Thomas for delivery.
