Donaldson,7 the son of Bill and Lynne Laue Donaldson, was born in Effingham8 on May 17, 1977; and9 WHEREAS, CW2 Donaldson graduated from Effingham High10 School in 1995; and11 WHEREAS, CW2 Donaldson enlisted in the U.S. Army on12 September 12, 1997, becoming a pilot and rising to the rank of13 chief warrant officer 2; and14 WHEREAS, CW2 Donaldson completed tours in Korea and15 Germany before serving with the 10th Mountain Division during16 Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan in 2006; and17 WHEREAS, CW2 Donaldson was killed in a helicopter crash18 while on a rescue mission in the Kunar Province of Afghanistan19 on May 5, 2006; andSJ0061 - 2 - LRB104 21288 RMO 36047 r1 WHEREAS, CW2 Donaldson was awarded the Bronze Star, the2 Air Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the3 Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Kosovo Campaign Medal, the4 NATO Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, the Army Good5 Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the6 Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon, the7 Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, the Expert8 Marksmanship Qualification Badge for grenade, and the9 Sharpshooter Badge for rifle; therefore, be it10 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF12 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the13 Fourth Street Interstates 57 and 70 Overpass in Effingham as14 the "Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher Donaldson Memorial15 Overpass"; and be it further16 RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation17 is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with18 State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs19 giving notice of the name "Chief Warrant Officer 2 Christopher20 Donaldson Memorial Overpass"; and be it further21 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be22 presented to the family of CW2 Donaldson, the Mayor of23 Effingham, and the Secretary of the Illinois Department ofSJ0061 - 3 - LRB104 21288 RMO 36047 r1 Transportation.
