hr148/enrolled.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionHOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 148BY REPRESENTATIVES LACOMBE AND MARTINEZA RESOLUTIONTo designate Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as Iberville Parish Day at the state capitol.WHEREAS, Iberville Parish was established on March 31, 1807; it is one ofLouisiana's original nineteen parishes and stands as a foundational contributor to the state'srich history and development; andWHEREAS, Iberville Parish is named in honor of the French explorer Pierre LeMoyne d'Iberville and has a legacy of leadership, resilience, and cultural pride that continuesto define its citizens; andWHEREAS, Iberville Parish serves as a gateway to the Atchafalaya Basin, the largestriver swamp in the United States, which offers significant ecological, recreational, andcultural value to residents and visitors; andWHEREAS, the parish is home to a robust industrial corridor along the MississippiRiver that serves as the site of major chemical and manufacturing facilities that supportthousands of jobs and contribute substantially to Louisiana's economy and tax base; andWHEREAS, the leaders and citizens of Iberville Parish demonstrate a strongcommitment to growth, infrastructure development, and regional collaboration that enhanceseconomic opportunity and quality of life; andWHEREAS, critical infrastructure investments, including the development of a newMississippi River bridge in the Baton Rouge region, remain essential to improvingconnectivity, supporting industry, and advancing long-term economic development forIberville Parish and the state of Louisiana; andPage 1 of 2HR NO. 148 ENROLLEDWHEREAS, Iberville Parish Day at the state capitol provides an importantopportunity to strengthen relationships between parish and state leadership, promote theparish's achievements, and advocate for its future.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of theLegislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as IbervilleParish Day at the state capitol and does hereby express support for the continuedcollaboration and strategic investment in infrastructure and economic developmentinitiatives that promote the sustained growth and prosperity of Iberville Parish and thesurrounding region.SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 2 of 2
