BY REPRESENTATIVES LACOMBE AND MARTINEZ
A RESOLUTION
To designate Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as Iberville Parish Day at the state capitol.
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish was established on March 31, 1807; it is one of
Louisiana's original nineteen parishes and stands as a foundational contributor to the state's
rich history and development; and
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish is named in honor of the French explorer Pierre Le
Moyne d'Iberville and has a legacy of leadership, resilience, and cultural pride that continues
to define its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Iberville Parish serves as a gateway to the Atchafalaya Basin, the largest
river swamp in the United States, which offers significant ecological, recreational, and
cultural value to residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the parish is home to a robust industrial corridor along the Mississippi
River that serves as the site of major chemical and manufacturing facilities that support
thousands of jobs and contribute substantially to Louisiana's economy and tax base; and
WHEREAS, the leaders and citizens of Iberville Parish demonstrate a strong
commitment to growth, infrastructure development, and regional collaboration that enhances
economic opportunity and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, critical infrastructure investments, including the development of a new
Mississippi River bridge in the Baton Rouge region, remain essential to improving
connectivity, supporting industry, and advancing long-term economic development for
Iberville Parish and the state of Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, Iberville Parish Day at the state capitol provides an important
opportunity to strengthen relationships between parish and state leadership, promote the
parish's achievements, and advocate for its future.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby designate Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as Iberville
Parish Day at the state capitol and does hereby express support for the continued
collaboration and strategic investment in infrastructure and economic development
initiatives that promote the sustained growth and prosperity of Iberville Parish and the
surrounding region.
