Academy-St. Albans Comets Division I girls’ championship ice hockey team.

Offered by Representatives Luneau of St. Albans City, Bartley of Fairfax, Branagan of
Georgia, Brigham of St. Albans Town, Demar of Enosburgh, Dickinson of St. Albans
Town, Greer of Bennington, Gregoire of Fairfield, Laroche of Franklin, Oliver of
Sheldon, and Walker of Swanton
Whereas, the talented and collaborative Comets played skillfully all season, garnered
the top playoff seed, and was undefeated during its regular season prior to the
championship contest against third-seeded Essex, and
Whereas, having reached the decisive game in 2024 and 2025, and last year also
against Essex, the 2026 Comets were determined to win this year’s championship, and
Whereas, at the University of Vermont’s Gutterson Fieldhouse, the winning path was
started at the 11:46 mark of the first period, when, on a power play, Bellows Free
Academy (BFA)-St. Albans scored its opening goal, and with great offensive and
defensive play, never lost the lead, concluding the contest with a 3–1 victory, the
Division I crown, and an 18-game undefeated streak, and
Whereas, the thrilled Comets (20–1–2) who skated strongly to the championship were
Lily Desautels, Haylie Lanfear, Chatham Brouillette, Emma Caster, Lillian Ferraro,
Kaylyn Hughes, Jillian Smith, Braelyn Fitzgerald, Isabella Stuart, Rylee LaRocque,
Marion Pearson-Stanley, Marley Johnson, Hailey Aylward, Marah McGinn, Gabby
Fraties, Aiyana Lamos, Makayla Couture, Reina Spaulding, Kali Cushing, Dahlia Steele,
Anna Hibbard, Isabelle Mulheron, and JenessaYates, and
Whereas, Head Coach Luke Cioffi and assistant coaches Jeff Rouleau, Chelsea
Forsyth, Erin Shepard, Ben Lovelette, and Kriti Viens guided and inspired the team, now
therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly congratulates the 2026 Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans
Comets Division I girls’ championship ice hockey team, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to
BFA-St. Albans.
