hr302/enrolled.txtENROLLED2026 Regular SessionHOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 302BY REPRESENTATIVES WYBLE AND CHASSIONA RESOLUTIONTo urge and request the Legislative Youth Advisory Council to discuss artificial intelligenceissues that may affect young people in Louisiana.WHEREAS, R.S. 24:973.1 establishes the Legislative Youth Advisory Council toexamine and facilitate communication between youth and the legislature regarding issuesof importance to youth; andWHEREAS, the law provides that the council has thirty-one members who are highschool students appointed by the Commission on Civic Education; andWHEREAS, one of the council's duties as provided by law is to identify the concernsand needs of youth and to advise and make recommendations to members of the legislatureon proposed or pending legislation and on policy matters related to youth; andWHEREAS, several pieces of legislation were introduced during the 2026 RegularSession of the Legislature that address artificial intelligence, and much of the discussion hascentered around the safety of young people; andWHEREAS, it is anticipated that legislation pertaining to artificial intelligence willbe introduced in future legislative sessions; andWHEREAS, protecting the safety and well-being of young people in Louisiana is ofthe utmost importance; andWHEREAS, legislators value the contributions and insights of the members of theLegislative Youth Advisory Council and would benefit from the council's discussion ofartificial intelligence issues affecting young people.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of theLegislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request the Legislative Youth AdvisoryCouncil to discuss artificial intelligence issues that may affect young people in Louisiana.Page 1 of 2HR NO. 302 ENROLLEDBE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the discussion may include topics such as theeducation of students, parents and guardians, and teachers and other youth-servingprofessionals regarding artificial intelligence as it pertains to matters facing Louisiana'syoung people.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the council may seek input from individuals withknowledge of artificial intelligence impacting the lives of young people in Louisiana,including but not limited to representatives of the office of the attorney general, lawenforcement, the state Department of Education, and the Louisiana Center for Safe Schools.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the council may provide a summary of itsdiscussion of artificial intelligence to the Commission on Civic Education and thelegislature.SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVESPage 2 of 2
