sr206/enrolled.txt2026 Regular Session ENROLLEDSENATE RESOLUTION NO. 206BY SENATOR MIZELLA RESOLUTIONTo commend Courtney McCool Griffeth, Olympian, NCAA champion, and coach, uponbeing inducted into the 2026 class of the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.WHEREAS, Courtney McCool Griffeth, Olympian, collegiate gymnast, and coach,will be honored, recognized, and inducted as a member of the 2026 class of the USAGymnastics Hall of Fame on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in conjunction with the 2026 XfinityU.S. Gymnastics Championships and National Congress and Trade Show in Phoenix,Arizona; andWHEREAS, a 2004 Olympian and NCAA champion and coach, Courtney McCoolGriffeth, is being celebrated for her contributions to women's artistic gymnastics, whichincludes a decorated career as an elite and collegiate athlete; andWHEREAS, following a strong performance at the U.S. Olympic Trials, Courtneyearned a coveted spot on Team USA to compete in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece,earning a silver medal in the team competition; andWHEREAS, leading up to the Olympic games, Courtney earned high marks at the2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, contributing to theteam's gold medal and placing second in the vault, and at the 2004 U.S. NationalChampionships, she claimed a silver medal on floor and earned a bronze medal on beam;andWHEREAS, following her successful elite career, Courtney McCool Griffeth enteredthe world of collegiate gymnastics, first as an athlete competing as a GymDog for theUniversity of Georgia from 2007 to 2010 and later as a coach; andWHEREAS, while competing for the University of Georgia, she was a four-timeNCAA champion, earning the 2008 NCAA floor exercise title and contributing to threestraight NCAA national championship teams; andPage 1 of 2SR NO. 206 ENROLLEDWHEREAS, after hanging up her grips, Courtney, fueled by her love and passion forgymnastics, moved into the coaching arena, holding positions at Texas Woman's University,the University of Arkansas, and the University of Utah where she contributed to theadvancement and success of each program; andWHEREAS, in 2021, Courtney began her coaching tenure at Louisiana StateUniversity, primarily leading the beam and floor squads, and was instrumental in the climbto LSU's historic 2024 NCAA women's gymnastics national championship; andWHEREAS, through her achievements as an Olympian, NCAA champion, andrespected and successful collegiate coach, Courtney McCool Griffeth has distinguishedherself as one of the nation's most accomplished figures in the sport of gymnastics and herinduction in the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame class of 2026 stands as a fitting tribute to herextraordinary legacy and lasting contributions to gymnastics.THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisianadoes hereby commend Courtney McCool Griffeth upon being inducted into the 2026 classof the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame and does hereby express sincere wishes for continuedsuccess and prosperity.BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted toCourtney McCool Griffeth.PRESIDENT OF THE SENATEPage 2 of 2
