                                A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing and commending Alex C. Habersham; and for other purposes.
2 WHEREAS, for more than three decades, Alex C. Habersham has been a leading advocate
3 for economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and community advancement throughout
4 Middle Georgia, dedicating his life and career to expanding opportunities for African
5 American businesses and strengthening the region's economic foundation; and
6 WHEREAS, in 1991, Mr. Habersham founded the Macon-Middle Georgia Black Pages, a
7 groundbreaking publication established to address the critical need for greater visibility,
8 access, and opportunity for Black-owned businesses throughout Central Georgia; and
9 WHEREAS, over the past 35 years, the Macon-Middle Georgia Black Pages has evolved
10 into a trusted and respected regional resource, connecting residents, entrepreneurs,
11 corporations, and community organizations while serving as a catalyst for economic growth
12 and increased circulation of dollars within the African American community; and
13 WHEREAS, through its consistent promotion of local businesses, the publication has helped
14 countless entrepreneurs gain exposure, expand their customer base, achieve long-term
15 sustainability, and contribute meaningfully to the economic vitality of the region; and

16 WHEREAS, under Mr. Habersham's visionary leadership, the publication expanded beyond
17 a business directory into a comprehensive economic, cultural, and informational guide that
18 chronicles the achievements, challenges, and growth of African American entrepreneurship
19 throughout Middle Georgia; and
20 WHEREAS, the publication has further served as an important platform for promoting
21 workforce development, civic engagement, educational opportunities, and community pride
22 while highlighting the contributions of African Americans to the economic and cultural
23 fabric of the region; and
24 WHEREAS, Mr. Habersham's commitment to service extends well beyond publishing, as
25 he has devoted more than 30 years to mentoring emerging leaders, organizing community
26 initiatives, advocating for minority business development, supporting youth empowerment,
27 and fostering regional collaboration; and
28 WHEREAS, he is the co-founder and board chair of the Central Georgia Coalition of Black
29 Businesses, an organization dedicated to strengthening Black-owned businesses through
30 education, networking, advocacy, and strategic partnerships that advance economic
31 opportunity throughout Central Georgia; and
32 WHEREAS, the 2026-2027 Commemorative Edition of the Macon-Middle Georgia Black
33 Pages marks the publication's historic 35th Anniversary and serves as its final print edition,
34 symbolizing both a remarkable legacy and an exciting transition into an expanded digital
35 future; and
36 WHEREAS, this milestone edition stands as a tribute to the businesses, organizations, and
37 individuals whose contributions have shaped the economic landscape of Middle Georgia and

38 reflects Mr. Habersham's unwavering dedication to preserving and promoting that legacy;
39 and
40 WHEREAS, through his vision, perseverance, innovation, and steadfast commitment to
41 community advancement, Alex C. Habersham has made a profound and lasting impact on
42 the economic development of Middle Georgia, advanced opportunities for African American
43 entrepreneurs, promoted equity and inclusion, and strengthened the identity and prosperity
44 of the communities he serves; and
45 WHEREAS, his distinguished career and exemplary service continue to inspire future
46 generations of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and community advocates throughout the
47 State of Georgia.
48 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that
49 the members of this body recognize and commend Alex C. Habersham upon the 35th
50 Anniversary of the Macon-Middle Georgia Black Pages for his extraordinary contributions
51 to economic empowerment, business development, and community advancement throughout
52 Middle Georgia.
53 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
54 and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Alex
55 C. Habersham.
